I think more people are getting tired of hard core trends. It’s probably better to stick with the classics and add a touch of trend with color or accessories that can be easily changed when the next trend makes the previous trend outdated in two years.

It took me five years to come up with a look for my entryway. Lots of things have transpired over those years. I lost my mom, and had thoughts of scrapping the makeover to move away from near where she lived. I had huge sums embezzled from me. And I've taken on other distractions. But finally, the inspiration has come. An atrium vibe, with pops of black window frames & a black bird cage against white walls. And since the hall is narrow, only a wallpaper mural on the wall will do. It's going to be magnificent!

As the owner of a cleaning company, I wish ALL designers would also consider this aspect of design because if it’s beautiful but it’s hard to maintain that way what good is it going forward? My opinion on too much “texture” Would be it’s harder to keep clean! Just a suggestion to make everyone’s life easier!

What color ?

Last year, we renovated our post-war kitchen and dining room. We knocked down walls to make 1 big room with eat-in kitchen. We did light gray shaker cabinets, white shiplap on exposed walls, and forest green backsplash for pop of colour. We are so happy with the result. Watching these videos were helpful but we would not do anything more moving forward. We did the work ourselves with the help of Home Hardware.

Ok...looking and i understand this us,about upcoming "TRENDS ",I get it.. However, these are just that, trends. Not going to stand the the test of time in my opinion. Great if u have lots of $ to change the look in 5 years ..but for most of us classic is best.

My former husband wrote in our wedding vows a promise NOT to fill the bed with a bunch of throw pillows. We made the bed as soon as we rose for the day. He hated organizing a bunch of throw pillows on the made bed.

Dark flooring will show far more dirt than light color flooring. I painted my son’s room in a light blue and installed gorgeous navy blue textured wool carpeting. The room looked stunning, but OMG, that dark carpet showed every spec of lint and debris. I used dark brown hardwood floors in the primary bedroom. Again every footprint, dust, and debris was highly visible. I am a neatnik so very organized and clean. Still, I was vacuuming the dark carpet just about every day and mopping dark hardwood floors multiple times a week. Keeping dark floors looking tidy is a full-time job.

There was maybe one decent looking kitchen in this video, the rest were garbage. 🗑️

Don't like the green in kitchen- ceiling and cabinets- yuck!! Ugly shades of green and I can see people getting sick, sick of this real quick! I have a small galley kitchen in my 1920 Crafts Bungalow and am about to have cabinets repainted white, light gray walls, large black and white checked tile floor. It will look fabulous!!!

In my house, that textured charcoal hood would be nicely highlighted with dust in short order. What a nightmare that would be to keep clean. Does anyone else always think about the cleaning situation with some design ideas? I guess I just live in a dusty old house :o)

My Reno guy made the best design suggestion- if possible don’t put the shower niche in the wall you look directly at when entering. All the shampoo/condition/ razors, etc ruin the look! We have the pony wall between the shower and tub and that’s where he inserted a niche with one very tall space for Costco size bottles and then a much narrower space for soaps and razors. Best suggestion ever
